Scope

The International Journal of Turkish Studies (IJTS) is a peer-reviewed publication that promotes research across the social, cultural, political, environmental, and demographic dimensions of Turkish studies.

Its scope encompasses the Seljuk period and the Ottoman Empire (covering the Balkans, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus), as well as Republican Turkey and the broader Turkic world in Eurasia. For the Seljuk period, the journal welcomes research on the transformation of western Asia Minor from Byzantine to early Ottoman rule.

Emphasizing interdisciplinary and comparative frameworks, the journal publishes original research and critical reviews that contribute to current debates in the field. A dedicated section also considers advisor-approved, unpublished parts of doctoral theses and archival reports that support broader academic exchange. Translations, technical reports, and highly specialized material are not within the journal’s purview.
