In Summer 2025, the Kemal H. Karpat Center for Turkish Studies completed the first phase of the Kemal H. Karpat: A Living Memory Project, dedicated to preserving and expanding access to the intellectual legacy of the late Professor Kemal H. Karpat. This stage focused on the digitization and transcription of a significant set of archival audio recordings: twenty-six lectures from Karpat’s History of the Modern Middle East course, delivered in Spring 2001 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Beyond their immediate historical value, the lectures hold exceptional significance for both historiography and the history of teaching Middle Eastern history.
